UNICEF Finland appoints new Goodwill Ambassador: JYRKI 69, SINGER OF THE 69 EYES
"Invited by the Board of Directors of UNICEF Finland Jyrki69, singer of the rock band The 69 Eyes, today signed an agreement of cooperation with the organization. Jyrki69 has done excellent UNICEF work as Spokesperson for the school campaign “Stolen childhood”. “Stolen Childhood” is a campaign designed for schools, and the beneficiaries are children in West-African Benin, who run the risk of becoming trafficked.
During the ceremony, Executive Director Pentti Kotoaro of UNICEF Finland said that “the unselfish work of the Goodwill Ambassadors is a priceless resource to UNICEF. With their help the message of children’s rights reaches audiences, to which we would not have access otherwise.”
The Goodwill Ambassadors are UNICEFs messengers and spokespersons for children’s rights. They commit to the goals of the organization and put children’s issues on the agenda in their own field. Goodwill Ambassadors are volunteers for UNICEF. International Goodwill Ambassadors are among others Harry Belafonte, David Beckham, Angelina Jolie, Robbie Williams, Angélique Kidjo, Ricky Martin and Sir Roger Moore."
As his first UNICEF field trip Jyrki visited Kenya in the end of August 2005 - the main part of this he spent in Garissa district near border of Somalia. This trip was documented for the Finnish Channel 4's use and also for the Finnish daily newspaper Ilta-Sanomat (in which it was released on Sat. 17th Sept. in a special PLUSSA magazine) and the pop magazine MiX. He also met last week in Helsinki his fellow Goodwill Ambassador Sir Roger Moore as a part of UNICEF's started school campaign.
So that was the summer 2005. Thank you.

Russia was fantastic again - thank you: MTV Russia, all you friends and beautiful people we met! In Moscow Jyrki also paid a visit to "Otradnoye", the Moscow state social rehabilitation centre for children and young people as a part of his UNICEF activities. More about it here.

The brand new 69 Eyes single released in Germany in 15.8.2005 is "FEEL BERLIN"! It includes three bonus tracks: "From Dusk Till Dawn", "Feel Berlin" (live) and "Lost Boys" (live) - live tracks are recorded at Radio NRJ's free concert at Kaivopuisto Park in Helsinki in June 2005. More details here.
The 4th Finnish single release from DEVILS is “SISTER OF CHARITY” including the video "Lost Boys”. Release date in Finland: 29.06.2005.
The 69 Eyes' dvd “Helsinki Vampires” has reached gold and the album "Paris Kills" platinum in Finland. The 69 Eyes' new album DEVILS also reached gold sales early January. The 69 Eyes have got gold in Finland also from their three previous albums: "Blessed Be", "Paris Kills" and "Framed In Blood - The Very Blessed Of…".
HELLDONE TAKES OVER TAVASTIA CLUB IN HELSINKI:

HIM has for the past 6 years played an exclusive, sold-out-in-minutes New Year Eve’s club show to their most hardcore international fans at their home base in Helsinki, Finland. Now the band has decided to take the much-awaited event onto the next level by expanding the show into a 3-day "HellDone Festival 2005".
Aside headliner HIM numerous other interesting Finnish acts have confirmed their appearance: The 69 Eyes, Negative, Charon, Bloodpit, Bleak, Sunride and Deep Insight. "HellDone Festival 2005" encompasses two floors with the audience being able to move freely between Tavastia and Semifinal, one floor below.
3-day tickets grant admission every evening. On show night the personalized ticket will be exchanged at Tavastia's entrance for a laminated pass (with the client's photograph) and a wrist band. Each client is required to prove his identity, for example with a valid passport. As a special bonus 3-day ticket holders will receive the festival's poster and t-shirt, which are not available outside HellDone. 1-day tickets will also be sold for each evening. A fierce demand for tickets is expected therefore the number of tickets per purchaser is limited to two.
TICKETS
Sales start next Monday 19 September at 10 am (Finnish time) at Tiketti. Prices: 3-day festival ticket 90 euros, 1-day ticket 35 euros. Purchase limit: 2 tickets per client. The tickets will be marked with the client's name, which cannot be exchanged at any time. Age limit: 18 years, no exceptions.
